Walker Strangis
Walker Strangis began his career in wine after a decade in the entertainment industry. He entered the fine wine auction business in 2006 full time and worked at four of the world’s largest auction houses for more than a decade—including Christie’s, Bonhams and Zachys. Intimately involved with each step of the auction process, from cataloguing and appraisals to operations, inspections and negotiating terms of sale, he has appraised cellars totaling in excess of $22MM and managed the global sale of over $100MM in investment grade wine. From 2009 to 2013, Walker spent considerable time in Hong Kong developing and working in the evolving auction market during its most formative period. Walker brokers highly sought-after bottles produced in classic wine regions—namely Burgundy, Bordeaux, Champagne, Piedmont, California and Spain—and tracks down coveted vintages.
A modern boutellier, his personal penchant for old, rare and storied producers and vintages has created a cluster of passionate connoisseurs, collectors and sommeliers who constantly exchange knowledge about wine far beyond the norm. He is often curating wine-centric dinners and has become an active member of several lively wine groups, including the Los Angeles chapter of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin and Confrérie Saint- Étienne d’Alsace. You'll find him dining out regularly pairing his personal collection with any food occasion.
