The 2020 Syrah Chargement, based on 77% Syrah and 23% Graciano, comes mostly from the Slide Hill Vineyard in the Edna Valley yet also includes grapes from Hawks Hill and Denner Vineyard. Aged in 46% new barrels, its deep purple hue is followed by a great nose of ripe blackberries, Bing cherries, chocolate, peppery herbs, and hints of iodine and iron. Rich full-bodied, and powerful, it has a pure, focused texture, beautiful acidity, and ripe tannins, all making for a brilliant bottle of Syrah to enjoy over the coming 7-8 years.
