Ex-cellars. Marisa Bacher's 'Rosso Bacher' 2021 is a blend of Dolcetto and Barbera harvested and vinified in Monforte d'Alba.
Marisa Bacher's story began only recently. Enologically raised in the arms of Mario Fontana, a fantastic producer of Barolo in Perno with whom she has been collaborating since 2016, Marisa decided in 2020 to lease a vineyard in Monforte and make her own wine. This is in addition to her cellar management duties at Cascina Fontana.
She focuses on two varieties: Dolcetto and Barbera. The intent is to express the best of the land, to give voice to those ancient vines, enhancing their fruit and freshness. The Bacher Rosso was vinified in cement and then aged in steel and fiberglass tanks until bottling.
Marisa is an impressive character, full of passion for the region and what the vines of Piedmont produce as well as any other region in the world. Originally from a small farm at the foot of Monte Rosa, Marisa handles all aspects of viticulture and viniculture on her own. The wines are farmed and raised organically (though she has no desire to pay for certification) with minimal intervention. What comes through in the wine is a bright, fresh and balanced fruit driven piece of Piedmont.
